Q. Can a Crash diet ever be healthy?
A. Yes, but only to kick-start your weight loss program. Use them for two weeks to see quick results then return to your balance diet-eating regime. Once you have reached your ideal weight avoid relying on them to stay that way.
Q. What can I do, to get slimmer?
A. I would advise you to visit your nutritionist to help you with your diet. But, here are some guidelines you could follow:
- Surrender those sweets:- Sugary foods can trigger an insulin surge which encourages fat storage and stimulate appetite. So, the next time you hear your sweet tooth calling…run!
- Eat little and often:- Regular meals helps to prevent overeating and also keep blood sugar steady. So, don’t feel bad if you don’t finish everything on your plate.
- Cut fat:- Fat contains twice as many calories as protein or carbohydrate so it’s easier to overdo it. Trim excess fat away from meat and check label content.
- Take Regular Exercise:- Now is the time to really get moving! A good gym or sports center should be able to point you in the right direction, helping you choose the right fitness program.
Q. I’m a fitness buff but I love to snack most times. What would you recommend for me to snack on?
A. Try fresh and dried fruits, rice cakes, oatcakes and seeds from “Natural Health” (located at 134 Constant Spring Road, Kingston) as these are quite healthy!
Q. I tend to drink lots of sodas when I’m thirsty but I was told to drink water…. is water that important?
A. Since water contains no calories and can serve as an appetite suppressant and helps metabolize stored fat, it may possibly be one of the most significant factors in losing weight.
Drinking more water helps to reduce water retention by stimulating your kidneys. Dehydration leads to excess body fat, poor muscle tone and size, decreased digestive efficiency and organ function, increased joint and muscle soreness and water retention. So, drinking water works to keep muscles and skin toned!
Q. I’m very sexually active…would that explain why my legs are so toned? because my boyfriend loves it when I squat.
A. Mmmmmmmm…..It is true that squats are known to be one of the best exercise to get nicely toned, legs and butt! And it is also true that there is no such thing as a normal sex life but having a libido that equals your partner’s.
So, sex if nothing else is exercise. A vigorous encounter burns as much calories as running for 15 minutes on a treadmill. Muscular contractions during intercourse work the pelvis, thighs, buttocks, arms and neck. It is said….the bed is called the greatest piece of exercise equipment ever invented!
